Special dental appliances and recent advances make it possible to considerably reduce and even control sleep apnea, which can be detrimental to your health if left unresolved. If you snore or have been told that you do, it’s important you do something about it. Your health depends on it!

But what if you’re a denture wearer?

Well, a report released a few years ago warns that obstructive sleep apnea may get worse if the sleeper has removed his or her dentures. In sleep apnea, the upper airway collapses during sleep, which causes a temporary interruption in breathing that makes the person rouse, gasp for air and begin to breathe again.

When you close your mouth with no teeth, the gums hit up against each other, and your mouth is more closed than it ever could be, intensifying the airway collapse.
